Search Canyon County Inmate Records

Canyon County inmate records start with the adult jail roster, which is the main way to look up Canyon County inmates online. A Canyon County jail roster search can confirm current county custody, recent booking details, arresting agency, charge rows, and status-alert links. The same search does not replace the court record after charges are filed, and it does not cover state prison, juvenile custody, federal prison, or immigration detention. Use the roster first for county jail custody, then move to the right court, state, or federal system when the person has been released, transferred, sentenced, or held under another authority.

Canyon County Jail Roster Overview

The official Canyon County Jail Roster lists people who are currently housed in the Canyon County Jail system. The notice on that roster is important. It says the list may include adults with juvenile offenses, juveniles held on adult charges, people held for civil contempt, and some participants in county programs outside the jail's physical walls, including Sheriff's Inmate Labor Detail, Pretrial Release, and Intensive Community Supervision. That means the roster is a custody and program-status tool, not a final statement of guilt or sentence.

The roster also warns that booking charges may not match the charges later filed by the Canyon County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. For current custody status, the roster directs callers to 208-454-7541. For filed charges, hearings, and court status, use the Idaho iCourt Portal or call the Canyon County Clerk at 208-454-7571. Sentenced Idaho prisoners move to the IDOC Resident/Client Search, federal inmates use the BOP Inmate Locator, and immigration detainees use ICE ODLS.

The search form is simple, but the notice and links around it explain which Canyon County inmate records are current custody records and which questions need iCourt, VINE, or the jail status line.

Use the Canyon County Inmate Roster

Start with the county-hosted roster rather than a commercial mirror. The page has one name box, a Submit button, and alphabet links for the first letter of the last name. A live inspection of the A-letter search on June 8, 2026 returned twenty results, with each row showing a photo thumbnail, name, ID number, arresting agency, charge count, charge table, and a VINE status-update link.

  1. Open the official Canyon County Jail Roster and read the custody and charge-status notice.
  2. Enter a name in the search box, or choose the first letter of the person's last name from the A-Z links.
  3. Compare the results by full name, ID number, arresting agency, charge count, and charge text before assuming a match.
  4. Click the image or name if a full photo and charge modal is needed for identification.
  5. Use the VINE link for status alerts, or call 208-454-7541 if the online status is unclear.

The related Canyon County Current Arrests page is useful for recent bookings because it adds an arrest date and time that was not visible in the inspected general roster rows. Current Arrests says it covers people who are or were housed in the jail for criminal offenses, excludes juvenile offenders, and does not reflect SILD.

Canyon County Roster Search Fields

The Canyon County inmate records search is narrower than many jail databases. It does not expose date of birth, housing unit, bond, booking number, or a facility dropdown on the public form inspected in the research. The available controls are enough for a first pass, but a common name may need iCourt, the jail status line, or a records request to avoid mixing two people.

Note: If a person was booked very recently, Current Arrests may show the arrest before iCourt has an easy-to-find public case entry.

Canyon County Inmate Record Fields

The public roster result is a row with a photo and charges, not a full jail-management profile. It helps identify the person and compare booking charges to a later court case. It does not show every field a family member may expect, so bond, court date, and housing questions often require iCourt, the clerk, or the jail status line.

Canyon County Custody Lookup Channels

Use the lookup channel that matches the custody level. Canyon County adult jail custody begins with the county roster and Current Arrests. Court charges and hearings move through iCourt. Idaho prison, probation, and parole status move through IDOC. Federal and immigration custody are separate systems, and neither should be inferred from the Canyon County jail roster alone.

Canyon County Inmate Records Requests

When the online roster does not answer the question, Canyon County routes sheriff records through a written public-record request. The Civil and Records page says all requests to examine or copy records must be in writing, and the request should describe the record type with enough detail for staff to search. The sheriff public-record request form has jail-specific categories, including Most recent booking sheet, Arrest history for CCDC adult arrests only, Photographs, narrative report, witness statements, and other records. It also asks for practical identifiers such as the subject's name, date of incident, court case number, police or accident report number, and subject identifying information.

Idaho records law affects what is released. Idaho Code 74-102 gives the public a right to inspect or copy public records unless a statute limits access. Idaho Code 74-103 sets the response framework, with three working days for a grant or denial or notice that more time is needed, and resident production generally no later than ten working days when extended. Idaho Code 74-113 can allow greater access to records about oneself when identity is verified. Records tied to active investigations, juveniles, confidential parties, or pending criminal-case discovery may still be redacted or withheld.

Delivery methodEmail, U.S. mail, paper copy, CD, in-person pickup, fax, or other.
FeesPossible labor or copy costs for large requests or requests needing more than two person-hours.

Canyon County Jail Facilities

Canyon County adult jail records refer to a sheriff-run jail campus, not one uniform building. Dale G. Haile Detention Center is the primary adult holding facility. The Jail Annex and Tent Facility Pod 5 are also county adult jail housing areas. Juvenile custody and state reentry facilities in Canyon County use different public access rules and should not be treated as adult jail roster records.

Canyon County Booking Process

Booking starts when a law-enforcement agency arrests a person or a warrant or court order causes custody. Canyon County prosecutor material says most criminal cases begin with a city police agency, the county sheriff, or Idaho State Police. Jail staff then create a booking identity record. The county public-record request form confirms that the sheriff maintains most recent booking sheets, adult CCDC arrest-history records, and photographs, subject to public-record limits.

Classification follows intake. The detention center page says Inmate Classifications uses interviews and records checks to decide proper housing. Medical screening and care are handled by the Medical Unit, and outside prescription or over-the-counter medicine is not accepted from the public. Court transport is handled separately, and transport days and times are not released for security. For court dates, the detention FAQ points to the Canyon County Clerk at 208-454-7571.

Canyon County Inmate Mail and Funds

Family and friend mail changed in 2024. Standard non-legal mail is scanned and delivered electronically, and mail sent to the wrong address after the transition is rejected. The address format is the inmate full name and inmate ID, Canyon County Jail, ID, PO Box 76550, Highland Heights, KY 41076. Legal mail remains directed to Canyon County Jail, 219 N. 12th Ave., Caldwell, ID 83605.

Commissary is provided by Summit Food Services, and deposits are made through JailATM or the lobby kiosk. Canyon County no longer accepts inmate money by money order or cash. Commissary orders occur on Saturday, with money due before Tuesday at 5:00 p.m., and the weekly spend limit is $75. The jail also notes an indigent writing pack for inmates with less than $2.50 on account.

Note: Confirm current custody with the jail before sending money, scheduling a visit, or mailing documents.

Canyon County Inmate Record Terms

Several roster terms matter because they affect where to search next. Booking is the jail intake record created after arrest or surrender. Classification is the jail process that uses interviews and records checks to assign housing and security level. A filed charge is the formal court charge filed by the prosecutor, and it may differ from a booking charge. A hold or detainer is a separate legal reason a person may remain in custody even when a local case appears bondable.

SILD
Sheriff's Inmate Labor Detail, a Canyon County detention-alternative program named in the roster notice.
Pretrial Release
